Safety knowledge gained in practice for practical use

Alumni colloquium of the Safety Technology/Safety and Quality Law department at the University of Wuppertal

The “Safety and Quality Law” area of the BUW’s Safety Technology department attaches great importance to exchanging experiences and discussing current developments in occupational health and safety requirements. A meeting of graduates and doctoral students in the Safety Technology / Safety and Quality Law department is therefore held every year at the beginning of January at the Institute ASER in Wuppertal-Vohwinkel (www.institut-aser.de).

The event traditionally takes the form of an advanced seminar and offers a platform for specialised discussion and “networking” between alumni in the fields of business, science and administration. The topics covered and the industries in which the alumni work vary widely: The chemical industry is represented by university graduates working for the companies Evonik GmbH (Essen) and Infracor GmbH (Marl). The automotive industry is represented by Daimler AG (Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth), the aviation industry by Deutsche Lufthansa AG (Hamburg). Plant construction, vehicle construction and mechanical engineering are represented by ZF Friedrichshafen AG (Friedrichshafen), Voith GmbH (Heidenheim) and Ferrostaal AG (Essen). The medical product and safety product industry is represented by Dräger Safety AG & Co. KGaA (Lübeck). The safety engineering service sector is represented by alumni working at Tebodin (The Hague, Netherlands) and S-I-B Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH(Gladbeck). Scientists from the University of Wuppertal, ASER e.V. (Wuppertal) and the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) present the tasks they are currently performing in the field of safety engineering/public administration.

After the specialised presentations, the meeting is rounded off by a social gathering.
