VAS Verein der Absolventen der Sicherheitstechnik [Association of Safety Engineering Graduates]
Social networks and associations have one thing in common: they bring people together. While Facebook and other social media platforms only started to become popular a few years ago, there are a number of associations that have a long tradition.
Founded in April 1994, the Association of Safety Engineering Graduates of the University of Wuppertal (VAS e.V.) is one of the more veteran associations. However, the purpose for which it was founded is more relevant than ever: the association sees itself as a link between the Safety Engineering department, its professors, staff, students and alumni. This link is kept alive by various activities.
Unlike virtual networks, members have the opportunity to meet people in person at events such as the annual VAS members’ meeting or when organising the VAS event for the first day of the semester.
This alumni association is open to anyone who successfully completed a degree course in safety engineering in Wuppertal, who obtained a doctorate there, or who is currently studying in the safety engineering department. Professors in the safety engineering department can be admitted as supporting members.
